- The input unit acts as the bridge between the user and the computer. It receives data in various forms, such as keystrokes, mouse clicks, microphone recordings, or data from external devices.
- The input unit doesn’t actually understand the data itself. Its job is to convert the physical signals from these user inputs into a digital format that the computer can process. This digital format is typically binary code (sequences of 0s and 1s).
- Once converted, the input unit sends this digital data to the CPU for further processing.
