Islamyat GK MCQs

Nafeesa was the friend of Khadija (R.A) who delivered the marriage proposal to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), making her the correct answer.

The original name of Abu Ayub Ansari (R.A), the esteemed host of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in Madinah, was Khalid bin Zaid (R.A). Abu Ayub Ansari was his Kunya. The other options are names of different revered companions, not his original name.

The Gospel (Injil) was revealed by God to Prophet Jesus (A.S).

• Prophet Moses (A.S) received the Torah.
• Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) received scrolls (Suhuf).
• Prophet David (A.S) received the Psalms (Zabur).

Each prophet received specific divine revelations.

The Torah (Tawrat) was divinely revealed to Prophet Moses (A.S), serving as a primary scripture in Judaism and Islam. Prophet Ibrahim received scrolls, Prophet Jesus the Injil, and Prophet David the Psalms, making other options incorrect.

The Psalms (Zabur) were revealed by God to Prophet David (A.S). This holy book contains hymns and praises. Prophet Moses received the Torah, Prophet Ibrahim received Suhuf, and Prophet Jesus received the Injil, distinguishing their respective revelations.

The Quran, specifically in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60), explicitly mentions eight categories or heads for the distribution of Zakat funds.

The divine command, "Do not raise your voice above the voice of the Prophet," is explicitly stated in Surah Al-Hujurat (Chapter 49, Verse 2). This verse emphasizes respect and proper etiquette towards the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The other Surahs do not contain this specific injunction.

During Hajj and Umrah, the act of touching, kissing, or gesturing toward the Hajr-e-Aswad (Black Stone) while circling the Kaaba is called Istilam. It is a Sunnah act performed at the beginning and end of every circuit of Tawaf.

The correct answer is Al-Tauba (also known as Bara'ah). This surah is unique in the Quran as it is the only one that does not begin with the customary invocation, "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim" (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). The reason for this omission is widely understood to be that Surah Al-Tauba primarily deals with declarations of disavowal and war against polytheists who broke treaties, signifying a stern warning rather than a message of mercy at its outset. Options like Al-Baqarah, An-Nisa, and Al-Ikhlas all begin with the Bismillah, making them incorrect.

The ruling on Eid prayer depends on your school of Islamic jurisprudence, but it is primarily classified as Wajib (obligatory) or Sunnah Mu'akkadah (highly recommended). It is not generally considered Farz (an absolute individual obligation like the five daily prayers).

Islamic schools of thought view the Eid prayer as follows:
Hanafi: It is considered Wajib (mandatory) for adult men who are sane and residents. Missing it without a valid excuse is considered sinful.
Hanbali: Many Hanbali scholars consider it Fard Kifayah (a communal obligation), meaning if enough people in the community perform it, the rest are excused.

Shafi'i and Maliki: It is classified as Sunnah Mu'akkadah (a highly confirmed tradition), meaning it is highly rewarded but not strictly mandatory, and there are no sins for missing it.

Surah Al-Imran details the events, challenges, and lessons of Ghazwah Ohad, while also briefly referencing the victory at Ghazwah Badar earlier in the Surah.

The correct answer is Ethopia (Abyssinia). The first migration, known as the First Hijra, occurred around 613-615 CE when a small group of early Muslims, facing severe persecution in Makkah, sought refuge in the Christian kingdom of Abyssinia under its just ruler, Negus. This migration was a pivotal event, demonstrating the early Muslims' resilience and the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) concern for their safety. Makkah was where they faced persecution, and Madina was the destination for the later, larger Hijra. Baghdad was not a destination for early Islamic migrations.

Kitaab-ul-Aathaar is an early collection of Hadith and legal narrations attributed to Imam Abu Hanifa (R.A), compiled primarily by his students Imam Muhammad al-Shaybani and Imam Abu Yusuf.

Al-Muwatta was compiled by Imam Malik ibn Anas (R.A). It is one of the earliest and most authentic collections of Hadith and Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) from the era of the Tabi'un.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation (wahi) at the age of 40. This momentous event occurred in the Cave of Hira, located on Jabal al-Nour near Mecca, during the month of Ramadan. The angel Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared to him and commanded him to "Read!" (Iqra!), marking the beginning of his prophethood and the revelation of the Holy Quran. Options A (30), B (35), and D (45) are incorrect. While 30 and 35 represent significant periods in his life, such as his marriage to Khadijah and his role in resolving the Black Stone dispute, they do not correspond to the commencement of divine revelation. The age of 40 is universally recognized as the age of prophethood in Islamic tradition, signifying a period of maturity and spiritual readiness.

The Islamic Hijri calendar commenced in the year 622 AD, marking the migration (Hijrah) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina.

The correct answer is Fath. The phrase "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" (مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ) appears explicitly in the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Fath (Chapter 48), Verse 29[reference:0][reference:1].

The full verse states: "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves..."[reference:2][reference:3] This verse is part of the concluding passage of Surah Al-Fath, which describes the noble characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions[reference:4].

The title of the surah, Al-Fath, meaning "The Victory," refers to the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, a pivotal event that opened the way for the peaceful spread of Islam.

Why the Other Options Are Incorrect

• Ya-Seen (Option 1): Surah Ya-Seen is often referred to as the "heart of the Quran" and focuses on the Oneness of Allah and the reality of the Hereafter. It does not contain the specific phrase "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" in this explicit form.
• Muhammad (Option 2): Surah Muhammad (Chapter 47) is named after the Prophet and discusses the conduct of believers in battle, but it does not contain the exact phrase "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" as a standalone statement.
• Muzzammil (Option 3): Surah Al-Muzzammil (Chapter 73) addresses the Prophet directly, instructing him to stand in prayer at night, but it does not contain this specific declaration.

Therefore, the phrase "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah" is stated in Surah Al-Fath, making it the only correct answer.

Masjid al-Quba was the first mosque built by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 1 AH (622 CE) during his migration (Hijrah) from Mecca to Medina.

The first revelation received by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Cave of Hira comprised the initial five verses of Surah Al-Alaq.

This instruction is given in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:2), where believers are taught the proper etiquette and highest level of respect to show when speaking to or in the presence of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The correct answer is Egypt. The Fatimid Caliphate, an Ismaili Shia dynasty, is historically and culturally most associated with Egypt, where it established its capital city of Cairo in 969 CE and ruled for over two centuries as a major political and religious power in the Islamic world.

Understanding the Fatimid Caliphate in Egypt

The Fatimid Caliphate originated in North Africa, with its first ruler, Ubayd Allah al‑Mahdi, declaring the Caliphate in Tunisia in 909 CE. However, the Caliphate's most influential and enduring phase began when the Fatimids conquered Egypt in 969 CE under the general Jawhar al‑Siqilli. They founded a new imperial capital named al‑Qahirah (Cairo), which became the political, religious, and intellectual center of their vast empire. Cairo flourished as a hub of trade, scholarship, and cultural exchange, rivaling the Abbasid capital of Baghdad. The Al‑Azhar Mosque, established in 970 CE, evolved into one of the world's oldest universities, solidifying Egypt's central role in the Fatimid legacy.

For most of its history (969–1171 CE), the Fatimid Caliphate was centered in Egypt, which is why the Caliphate is overwhelmingly identified with Egypt in general knowledge and competitive exams. The Egyptian period saw the Caliphate reach its zenith in territorial expansion, economic prosperity, and intellectual output.

Why the Other Options Are Incorrect

• Iran: Iran was the heartland of the rival Abbasid Caliphate and later the Buyid dynasty. The Fatimids never established their rule in Iran; they were a North African and later Egyptian power.
• Iraq: Iraq was the seat of the Abbasid Caliphate (Baghdad). The Fatimids never controlled Iraq; they were rivals of the Abbasids, not successors to their territory.
• Hijaz: The Hijaz (western Arabia, containing Mecca and Medina) was under Fatimid influence at times, but it was never the seat of their Caliphate. They held the holy cities briefly, but their political and administrative capital was always in Egypt after 969 CE.

Therefore, the Fatimid Caliphate is historically remembered and taught as being established in Egypt, where it built its permanent capital and left a lasting civilizational legacy, making Egypt the only correct answer among the given choices.

The Holy Quran explicitly mentions a total of 26 prophets by name, including significant figures such as Adam, Noah, and Muhammad.

Hazrat Umr bin Al-Aas (R.A) is renowned as Fateh-e-Misr for successfully leading the Muslim conquest of Egypt during the early Islamic period.
