Option A, Shell, is a user interface (command-line or graphical) that allows users to interact with the operating system. It translates user commands into instructions for the kernel but does not directly control hardware devices itself.
Option C, Device drivers, are specific software components that enable the operating system to communicate with a particular hardware device (e.g., a printer, a sound card).
