The Tarbela Dam is indeed the largest hydroelectric dam in Pakistan. Located on the Indus River, it is not only the largest earth-filled dam in the world but also the largest by structural volume. It plays a pivotal role in Pakistan's water storage, irrigation, and power generation. While Mangla Dam is another significant hydroelectric project, and Diamer-Bhasha Dam is under construction to be even larger, Tarbela currently holds the record for the largest operational hydroelectric capacity in the country. Ghazi Brotha Dam is also a major project but smaller than Tarbela.
