Free and compulsory education for children aged 5–16 years is ensured under Article 25A of the Constitution of Pakistan. This article was inserted through the 18th Amendment in 2010, making education a fundamental right. It mandates the state to provide free and compulsory education to all children of this age group in such manner as may be determined by law.

• Article 25 ensures equality of citizens before the law and equal protection of the law.
• Article 26 prohibits discrimination in respect of access to public places.
