*CSS Updates* The CSS MPT (Preliminary Test) for the 2027 CSS exams in Pakistan is tentatively scheduled for September 27, 2026. Online applications will open following the public notice on August 2, 2026, and will close on August 20, 2026. Only qualifiers of this screening test will be eligible to sit for the main written examinations in early 2027.

There are 3 steps in CSS Examination:

NOTE: Only CSS MPT qualifiers are eligible to take CSS written exam.
CSS Interview

NOTE: Only CSS Written Exam qualifiers are eligible to take CSS Interview.

For reference, the CSS MPT for CSS 2025 was held on 6 October 2024 and the CSS 2025 exams commenced from 15 February 2025. Moving forward to the upcoming cycle, the CSS MPT for CSS 2027 is scheduled for 27 September 2026 and the written competitive exams will commence on 27 January 2027.

CSS MCQ Based Preliminary Test (MPT)

Mandatory Qualifying Test for appearing in Main Written CSS CE 2027.
Appearance in MPT will not be counted as a chance.
Answer key is typically uploaded on the FPSC website on the same day after the conclusion of the Test.
Candidates are allowed to take a carbon copy of the answer sheet.
MPT will be a knowledge-based test. You can Download the CSS MPT Syllabus PDF directly here.
Score of MPT will be valid only for the same year’s CSS CE and will not be counted towards overall marks determining final merit position.
Cut-off date to determine eligibility in terms of age, qualification, domicile etc. is 31.12.2026.
Fee for MPT will be Rs 250 (Non-Refundable).

CSS MPT Pattern

Number of Questions: 200 MCQs
Time Allowed: 200 minutes
Test Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Negative Marking: NO
Passing Marks: 33% (at least 66 correct answers out of 200 MCQs)

CSS Eligibility

All graduates having at least 2nd Division in Bachelor’s degree and between the age of 21 to 30 years on 31st December 2026 are eligible to apply for the CSS-2027 examination.
