The correct answer is B: Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially announced in November 2021 that Pakistan had been selected as the host nation for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. This decision marked a significant moment for cricket in Pakistan, as it signifies the return of a major global cricket tournament to the country after a long period, largely due to previous security concerns that led to events being moved elsewhere. The Champions Trophy is a one-day international (ODI) tournament contested by the top-ranked teams in the world.

• Option A: India is incorrect. While India frequently hosts major international cricket tournaments and is a dominant force in world cricket, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was not awarded to India. India hosted the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2023.
• Option C: England is incorrect. England has a rich history of hosting ICC events, including previous editions of the Champions Trophy, but they were not designated as the hosts for the 2025 tournament.
• Option D: Australia is incorrect. Australia, another major cricketing nation, often hosts global tournaments like the T20 World Cup or Cricket World Cup, but the 2025 Champions Trophy was not scheduled to be held there. They hosted the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2022.

The correct answer is Afghanistan. Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan during 2026 primarily due to escalating cross-border militant attacks orchestrated by groups like the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghan soil. The Pakistani government has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban regime of failing to curb these militant groups, leading to increased tensions and military responses. The airstrikes were a direct response to such perceived inaction and a rise in terrorist activities targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians, with Pakistan asserting its right to self-defense against groups using Afghan territory as a launchpad. This action highlights the complex security challenges and strained diplomatic relations between the two countries, centered on border security and counter-terrorism efforts.

• A: Iran is incorrect. Although Pakistan and Iran share a border and occasionally have security concerns, particularly regarding militant groups operating along their shared frontier, there were no reported Pakistani airstrikes conducted in Iran in 2026. Their relationship, while sometimes tense, did not escalate to such military action.
• B: India is incorrect because while India and Pakistan have a history of military confrontations, there were no reported Pakistani airstrikes in India during 2026. The nature of their conflicts typically involves different types of cross-border engagements or territorial disputes, not unprovoked airstrikes in 2026.
• D: China is incorrect. China is a close strategic ally of Pakistan, and any military action, especially airstrikes, against China is inconceivable. Their relationship is characterized by strong economic and defense cooperation, making this option fundamentally illogical in the context of regional security dynamics.

The correct answer is Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The BLA is a prominent ethno-nationalist militant organization that routinely conducts attacks in Pakistan's Balochistan province. The BLA seeks greater autonomy or complete independence for Balochistan and frequently targets Pakistani security forces, government installations, and non-Baloch civilians, including Chinese nationals involved in CPEC projects, whom they view as symbols of exploitation and state oppression. Their operations are characterized by guerrilla warfare tactics, bombings, and targeted assassinations, making them a significant source of instability in the resource-rich but underdeveloped province. The group's activities reflect deep-seated grievances related to resource distribution and political representation in Balochistan.

• A: TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) is primarily active along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, focusing on the Pakistani state with a broader Islamist agenda, distinct from the BLA's ethno-nationalist objectives in Balochistan. While they are a major militant threat, their core operational area and motivation differ from those responsible for the majority of attacks specifically within Balochistan.
• C: Al-Qaeda is an international jihadist organization with a global agenda, and while it has a presence in the region, its direct involvement in initiating and leading attacks specifically targeting Pakistani interests in Balochistan is less pronounced compared to the BLA. Al-Qaeda's activities are generally more focused on broader ideological warfare rather than localized ethno-nationalist conflicts.
• D: ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), or its regional affiliate IS-K (Islamic State – Khorasan Province), also operates in the broader region. While IS-K has conducted attacks in Pakistan, including in Balochistan, their primary targets and ideological motivations differ from the BLA. The BLA's focus is on Baloch nationalism, whereas ISIS is driven by a global caliphate ideology, making the BLA the most direct and consistent perpetrator of attacks specifically related to the Balochistan conflict.

The correct answer is Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistan\\\'s 2026 airstrikes in Afghanistan were primarily aimed at targeting the TTP, also known as the Pakistani Taliban. The TTP is a militant umbrella organization that has historically been responsible for numerous terrorist attacks within Pakistan, often launching cross-border incursions from sanctuaries believed to be located in Afghanistan. Pakistan has consistently accused the Afghan Taliban regime of harboring TTP militants and failing to take decisive action against them, despite repeated calls. The airstrikes represented a significant escalation in Pakistan\\\'s efforts to dismantle TTP strongholds and curb their operations, which pose a direct and severe threat to Pakistan\\\'s national security and stability, particularly in its western regions.

• A: BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) is incorrect because the BLA operates primarily within Pakistan\\\'s Balochistan province and is an ethno-nationalist group, not typically based in Afghanistan for its operations against Pakistan. While a threat to Pakistan, they were not the specific target of these cross-border airstrikes into Afghanistan.
• C: ISKP (Islamic State – Khorasan Province) is a regional affiliate of ISIS and operates in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan. While ISKP is a significant terrorist threat and has conducted attacks in Pakistan, the primary stated target for Pakistan\\\'s 2026 cross-border airstrikes in Afghanistan was the TTP, due to their sustained and direct threat from Afghan soil.
• D: JuA (Jamaat-ul-Ahrar) is a splinter group of the TTP that has also conducted attacks in Pakistan. While it is a militant entity, the overarching and primary target of Pakistan\\\'s military action in Afghanistan against militants based there is generally referred to as the TTP, which represents the broader threat from the Afghan side of the border. JuA is a faction within this broader TTP-related network.

Hosting the South Asian Games offers significant benefits to Pakistan, including promoting sports development, improving athletic infrastructure, boosting tourism, and enhancing its image on the international stage. This event is a major gathering for athletes from across South Asia, fostering regional camaraderie and competition, and Pakistan's preparations will involve substantial investment in venues and logistics to ensure a successful event.

• D: Sri Lanka is incorrect. Sri Lanka has a history of participating in and hosting the South Asian Games, having last hosted in 2016 (along with India for some events) and previously in 1991 and 2006. Despite its active involvement in the regional sports body, Sri Lanka was not selected as the host for the 2027 edition, which was officially awarded to Pakistan.

The correct answer is WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority). The WAPDA football team emerged as the champions of the National Football Challenge Cup in 2026. WAPDA has a strong tradition in Pakistani domestic football, often fielding competitive teams backed by institutional support, which allows them to attract and develop talent. Their victory in this prestigious tournament signifies their continued dominance and strong performance in the national football circuit during that year. The National Football Challenge Cup is a significant event in Pakistani football, bringing together top departmental and club teams to compete for the title, and WAPDA\\\'s win underscores their commitment to sports and their success in the particular season.

• A: KRL (Khan Research Laboratories) is incorrect. KRL is another prominent team in Pakistani football with a history of success in various domestic competitions, including the Pakistan Premier League and the Challenge Cup. However, they were not the winners of the 2026 edition of the National Football Challenge Cup, which was won by WAPDA.
• B: Army is incorrect. The Pakistan Army team is a regular participant in the National Football Challenge Cup and other domestic tournaments. While they are a strong contender and have achieved success in the past, they did not win the 2026 edition of the cup.
• D: Navy is incorrect. The Pakistan Navy football team also competes in national tournaments, contributing to the competitive landscape of Pakistani football. Despite their participation, the Navy team did not secure the championship title for the National Football Challenge Cup in 2026, which was claimed by WAPDA.

The main purpose of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is to foster economic connectivity between Pakistan and China. CPEC is a collection of infrastructure projects under the broader Belt and Road Initiative, designed to upgrade Pakistan's infrastructure and strengthen economic ties. This includes the development of Gwadar Port, road and railway networks, and energy projects, all aimed at improving trade routes, facilitating investment, and enhancing industrial cooperation. The ultimate goal is to create a robust economic corridor that benefits both countries through increased trade, regional connectivity, and shared economic growth.

• Option A, Cultural exchange program, is incorrect because while cultural exchanges may occur as a byproduct of closer ties, they are not the central purpose or driving force behind a massive infrastructure and economic development project like CPEC.
• Option C, Space exploration research, is entirely unrelated to the objectives of CPEC. CPEC focuses on terrestrial infrastructure and economic development, not space science.
• Option D, Military defense alliance, is also incorrect. CPEC is fundamentally an economic initiative. Although enhanced infrastructure could have dual-use potential or strategic implications, its stated and primary objective is economic cooperation and development, not the formation of a military pact. The framework is commercial and developmental, not defense-oriented.

The international financial institution that frequently supports Pakistan with economic programs is the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF's primary role is to ensure the stability of the international monetary system. It provides financial assistance, often in the form of loans or bailout packages, to member countries that are experiencing balance of payments difficulties or severe economic crises. These programs typically come with conditions requiring the recipient country, like Pakistan, to implement specific economic reforms, fiscal adjustments, and structural changes aimed at stabilizing its economy, improving its financial health, and promoting sustainable growth. Pakistan has historically engaged with the IMF on multiple occasions to address its economic challenges.

• Option A, the World Economic Forum (WEF), is incorrect. The WEF is an independent international organization known for its annual meeting in Davos, which brings together business, political, academic, and other leaders to discuss global issues. It does not provide direct financial support or economic programs to countries.
• Option C, the World Trade Organization (WTO), is incorrect. The WTO is an intergovernmental organization that regulates international trade, working to reduce barriers to trade and provide a framework for negotiating trade agreements. It does not offer financial assistance or economic reform programs.
• Option D, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), is also incorrect. UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations focused on promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, sciences, culture, communication, and information. It has no role in providing financial assistance for economic programs.
