Every Day Science

The correct answer is Moon because a moon is a natural satellite locked by gravity into a consistent orbit around a larger planetary body .

• Step 1 (Fact Check): Your original prompt marked Asteroids as the correct answer . This is a common error found in older past papers . In astronomy, asteroids orbit the Sun directly (mainly in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter) . Any celestial body trapped in orbit around a planet is structurally defined as a natural satellite, commonly referred to as a moon . The answer choice has been updated to reflect correct space science .
• Incorrect Options:
  • Comet is incorrect because comets are icy bodies of cosmic dust and rock that move in highly elliptical paths directly around the Sun, not planets .
  • Meteor is incorrect because a meteor is space debris burning up inside a planet's atmospheric layer, creating a brief streak of light .
  • Asteroid is incorrect because asteroids are rocky remnants orbiting the central star of our solar system rather than executing orbits around individual planets .

The correct answer is Earth is revolving around the sun because seasonal cycles are driven by Earth's annual orbital path combined with the fixed tilt of its rotational axis.

• Step 1 (Axial Tilt and Orbit): The Earth orbits the Sun once every 365.25 days while tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees relative to its orbital plane.
• Step 2 (Solar Intensity): As Earth completes this path, different parts of the planet receive varying concentrations of direct sunlight at different times of the year, creating winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
• Incorrect Options:
  • Moon is revolving around the earth is incorrect because the lunar cycle dictates ocean tides and lunar phases, holding no control over planetary seasonal shifts.
  • Earth is revolving around its axis is incorrect because Earth spinning on its axis generates the daily day-and-night cycle every 24 hours, not seasonal changes.
  • Planet Mars is attracting the sun is incorrect because Martian gravitational forces have a negligible effect on the orbital mechanics or climate parameters of Earth.

The correct answer is Thoracic cavity. The lungs are located in the thoracic cavity, which is the chamber of the body that is protected by the rib cage and separated from the abdominal cavity by the diaphragm.

Understanding the Thoracic Cavity

The thoracic cavity, also known as the chest cavity, is the upper part of the trunk that houses vital organs such as the heart, lungs, trachea, esophagus, and major blood vessels. It is enclosed by the ribs, the sternum (breastbone), and the thoracic vertebrae of the spine. The diaphragm, a dome‑shaped muscle at the base of the cavity, separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity below.

The lungs are specifically located within the pleural cavities, which are two separate, fluid‑filled spaces within the thoracic cavity – one for each lung. The pleural membranes envelop each lung, providing lubrication and allowing the lungs to expand and contract smoothly during breathing.

Why the Other Options Are Incorrect

• Buccal cavity: The buccal cavity is the mouth cavity, which includes the lips, cheeks, teeth, and tongue. It is the first part of the digestive system and is involved in chewing and swallowing. It has no connection to the lungs or respiratory organs.
• Both: Since the lungs are exclusively located in the thoracic cavity and not in the buccal cavity, this option is invalid.
• None of these: Because the lungs are indeed located in the thoracic cavity, this option is incorrect.

Therefore, the lungs are located in the thoracic cavity, making it the only correct answer.

The correct answer is 37°C because converting 98.6 degrees from the Fahrenheit scale to the Celsius scale results in exactly 37 degrees.

• Step 1 (Conversion Formula): To translate temperatures from Fahrenheit (°F) to Celsius (°C), use the standard mathematical formula: °C = (°F - 32) × 5/9.
• Step 2 (The Calculation): Substituting 98.6 into the equation: 98.6 - 32 = 66.6. Next, multiply 66.6 by 5/9: 66.6 × 5 = 333, and 333 / 9 = 37. This proves that 98.6°F matches 37°C precisely.
• Incorrect Options:
  • 55°C is incorrect because this high of a temperature would be instantly fatal, far exceeding the boiling ranges of organic proteins.
  • 42°C is incorrect because 42°C represents a state of extreme, life-threatening hyperpyrexia fever in medical science.
  • None of these is incorrect because option 3 shows the exact mathematical match.

The correct answer is Galileo because Galileo Galilei was among the very first scientists to systematically observe, map, and document sunspots using a telescope around late 1610 , 12.4.

• Step 1 (Historical Discovery): While ancient observers occasionally noticed huge sunspots with the naked eye, the telescopic discovery of sunspots occurred independently around 1610–1611 by researchers like Thomas Harriot, Johannes Fabricius, Christoph Scheiner, and Galileo , 12.8. Galileo popularized the finding by publishing his rigorous 'Letters on Sunspots' .
• Step 2 (Scientific Impact): Galileo's observations proved that sunspots tracked across the solar surface, demonstrating that the Sun rotated on its own axis and was not a perfect, unblemished celestial sphere .
• Incorrect Options:
  • Newton is incorrect because Sir Isaac Newton is celebrated for outlining the laws of motion and universal gravitation, living much later than the initial sunspot discoveries.
  • Chadwick is incorrect because James Chadwick was a 20th-century physicist who discovered the subatomic neutron particle.
  • Alberoni is incorrect because Giulio Alberoni was an 18th-century Italian cardinal and statesman with no historical ties to solar telescopic science.
